Tiny House

A select team of students participated in Drexel University’s first ever tiny house studio. We were tasked to design a Tiny House for Greensgrow West, a West Philly urban garden and community hub, to supplement their urban gardening and community education programs.

The design and construction of the tiny house was broken into three academic quarters.

During the first quarter; we researched building codes, logistical constraints concerning the transit of the house, compact building systems, and tiny house precedents. The tiny house was designed to include a working kitchen, sleeping loft, and built-in furniture. By the end of the quarter, our team finalized the exterior elevations and began material selection.

The tiny house was built during the next two quarters and now lives permanently at in Greensgrow West’s urban garden.
